The 21st century Christian is impatient. She loves to put God on the wall. Ask the Lord something and the next day he starts to charge. Imagine Jesus Christ being a fast food restaurant clerk.
Many do not meditate on the trajectory of Abraham, who called God at the age of 75, waited 25 years to have the beloved son Isaac and after 23 years had to offer it in sacrifice on Mount Moriah.
He heard from the Lord that he would be the father of multitudes, but never questioned, asking when it would take place. He let God work and He knows how to do it better than any of us.
The promise was fulfilled. Today, Abraham is considered the father of faith by Jews, Christians and Muslims. The sum of these three religions exceeds 2 billion people. We need that faithfulness today.
