In Ephesians chapter 6, verse 12, it is written that the forces of evil dwell in the heavenly realms. This is a spiritual dimension, invisible to our eyes, which we can only enter through prayers offered using the Word of God. But how many Christians know how to pray the sacred Word of Jesus Christ?
Many people simply recite biblical verses they have memorized from reading the Bible, yet few know how to pray the Word in the correct way. By doing this, they fail to access the heavenly realms or confront the demons that move within that dimension, engaged in combat against the angels of God.
The Bible contains various passages that can be used as weapons of war against the devil’s army. In verses 5 and 6 of Psalm 91—written by Moses—the Lord clearly explains how certain types of demons operate. It states that a Christian need not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day, the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, or the destruction that ravages at midday.
Terror
But who are these evil spirits? What do they do to us? The "terror of the night" refers to a demon that incites panic in people after dark; it causes nightmares, prevents sleep, manifests as shadowy figures within the home, and breaks objects—such as plates and glasses—all with the intent of instilling deep fear.
The "arrow that flies by day" is another type of demon used by Satan to target a person’s vulnerabilities, attempting to draw them away from the presence of Jesus Christ. For instance, someone who has engaged in sexual relations with prostitutes may find themselves attacked in this specific area, as the devil repeatedly places such women in their path to lure them back into sexual sin. For every type of weakness, this "arrow" strikes at the individual’s most vulnerable point. The "plague that stalks in the darkness" refers to a demon that has received an offering to inflict illnesses that medical science cannot identify; the patient exhibits symptoms, yet medical tests fail to detect any actual disease. This type of sorcery is performed at night and left at crossroads or in cemeteries at the stroke of midnight.
Name
As for the "destruction that lays waste at midday," this refers to a demon that operates during the day, specifically targeting the individual for whom an offering was made to cause harm. The secret to defeating these demons lies in praying the Word of God, invoking what is written in the Bible.
A Christian should pray in this manner: "In the name of Jesus Christ, I shall not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day—it shall bring me no harm. Likewise, the plague that stalks in the darkness shall have no power to inflict any illness upon my body, and the destruction that lays waste at midday shall have no strength to attack me anywhere."
By praying in this way, a Christian uses the Word of God to enter the heavenly realms and defeat the devil and his demons. In the spiritual sphere, it is the Word that possesses the power to open and close doors—for everything that exists was created by the power of the Word of God, as recorded in the first chapter of Genesis.
